Doggy Travels

Continuing on from our blog posts for #Doggy Travels, we now need to sort our provisions out for the mammoth journey of 1423 miles, from the East of England to the South of Spain. One of the most important things is to carry plenty of water. We have filled their H2O4K9 water bottles up but also have extra bottles on standby for refills and emergencies. The H2O4K9 water bottle is a great essential to carry. The screw top lid has been made to accommodate the dogs natural drinking style so they can drink straight from this, no additional bowls are required, which is great for a quick stop and go in our situation. Also the main body of the flask...

#Doggy Travels - Leishmaniasis    Before I lived in Spain I had never heard of Canine Leishmaniasis, which is very prevalent over there in dogs. It is a nasty disease for dogs, caused by the bite of sandflies (phlebotomist pernicious), which I always imagine to be just a smaller version of a mosquito, but they will do far more damage to a dog than a mosquito will do to a human. Sounds delightful doesn't it? This disease in dogs was first identified in Europe in 1903 and traditionally thought of as only found in the countries in the Mediterranean basin, as the sandflies like warm, hot climates. However, it has now spread further than that and many cases are found...

Doggy Travels

The next thing we need to worry about is how Cocoa and Luca travel safely, but as comfortably as possible on this mammoth trip. In their jobs Cocoa and Luca test a lot of harnesses and the ones they give a paws up to are the ones we continue to use. A good travel harness is one of the most important everyday essentials for them and us. Cocoa uses the Ruffwear Load-Up Harness, she has used this particular one for 3 years now and it is still going strong. I admit it is one of the most expensive ones on the market but it really has earned its money with the amount of miles and kilometres we do in a...

Doggy Travels

With the close of our show season it's time for us to head to Spain for a few weeks of well deserved R&R, obviously the dogs will be coming with us, Cocoa back to her home country and Luca to his preferred adopted Espana, where they have the space to run, hunt and play to their hearts content. They work hard for a living too, so they deserve this well earned treat, probably far more than we do!     But we have to get there first, which is no mean feat as it's a 1423 mile drive and that's just one way! From the East coast of the UK, across the channel, through France, taking in the outskirts of...

Paracord Dog Collars

I don't know where we first got the idea for our Paracord range of products, I think we had started making our fleece tug toys, platting and knotting happily away and my husband then went on from there, the idea evolving probably after seeing Bear Gylls hanging off a cliff edge and saving himself with his paracord bracelet and being impressed with the paracord (not Bear Grylls!)And so he started weaving with the paracord, learning the different knots and designs, what combinations work well, which colours sit well together and finding out in the meantime that the paracord does offer a strong, durable Paracord Dog Collar but also it’s flexible too.  Different weaves working better for different dogs, the narrower...
